About Wiley Malehorn Sirota & Raynes in Morris County, NJ

Wiley Malehorn Sirota & Raynes is a full-service New Jersey law firm providing a broad range of legal services to corporate, financial, and governmental institutions, as well as to individuals.

Wiley Malehorn Sirota & Raynes was founded in 1973 by Stephen B. Wiley and Donald M. Malehorn.

Steve Wiley (1929–2015) was one of New Jersey’s most distinguished attorneys, statesmen, and civic leaders. Over the course of his career, he served as Counsel to the Governor, Chair of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Chair of the State Legal Ethics Commission, and Chair of the State Board of Higher Education and a State Senator.

Steve was a visionary entrepreneur.  In addition to starting Wiley, Malehorn Sirota & Raynes, he founded First Morris Bank and Trust (now Provident Bank) and Morris Cablevision, the county’s first cable company.  Steve was also a consummate community builder, and played a pivotal role in many of Morristown’s key community institutions including the Morris School District, the Mayo Performing Arts Center, the Morristown Green, the Joint Free Library of Morristown and Morris Township and the Morris Educational Foundation. As an attorney, Steve was instrumental in the merger of the Morristown and Morris Township school districts—an achievement widely regarded as a cornerstone of the community’s continued vitality.

In 2021, in recognition of his lasting contributions to Morristown, a statue in honor of his public service was erected outside of the Library facing the Performing Arts Center.

In his later years, he also found success as a published poet, reflecting the breadth of his talents and interests.

Don Malehorn (1931 to 2017) also was intensely involved in the merger of the Morristown and Morris Township school districts, and was involved in many community efforts. Don was recognized as a brilliant attorney across a wide range of disciplines, but with special emphasis on real estate and land use matters. He was a founding member of the Morristown Kiwanis and was extensively involved in Princeton alumni affairs.
